Therapeutic Disclosure
I am fully trained in Therapeutic Full Disclosure, a structured, trauma-informed approach designed to support couples impacted by betrayal. This process promotes the elimination of secrecy and helps prevent the continued harm caused by ongoing and partial disclosure of the betrayal. Therapeutic Full Disclosure supports emotional processing, fosters accountability, and lays the foundation for restoring trust and navigating future decisions with greater confidence and clarity.
Betrayal profoundly damages trust. When disclosures are unplanned, partial, or ongoing, they often intensify the trauma for the betrayed partner. Therapeutic Full Disclosure offers a clinician-led process intended to minimise harm and create a foundation for relational repair.
For the betrayed partner, Therapeutic Full Disclosure provides clarity and a foundation for healing. For the disclosing partner, it promotes accountability and facilitates recovery through honesty and vulnerability. The process promotes transparency in the relationship, enabling trust and integrity to be re-established.
Nevertheless, Therapeutic Full Disclosure is not appropriate for every relationship and does not guarantee the relationship will survive. There are limitations to its use, and in some cases, alternative pathways may be more appropriate. Clinicians supporting both partners will assess whether Therapeutic Full Disclosure is indicated and will help explore other options if needed. Even when deemed appropriate, the decision to proceed rests entirely with the couple. Their readiness, emotional stability, and safety are key factors guiding the process.
